A little Greek mythology. Uranus

in hive-109435 •  last year

Uranus, Greek God who represents Heaven and Paradise, in Roman mythology is represented by Caelo. Gaia is the mother of Uranus and she chose him to be her equal. The children of Uranus with Gaia were 12 Titans: Oceanus, Iapetus, Rhea, Crios, Coeus, Phoebe, Themis, Thea, Hyperion, Thetis, Mnemosyne and Cronus; 3 Cyclopes: Brontes, Arges and Estépore and the 3 hecatonchires: Coto, Gyges and Briareus.

Uranus hated his children so Gaia hid them deep in the earth to hide them from his presence. He also feared the power of the Cyclops and the Hecatonchires, so he imprisoned them in Tartarus. Gaea devised a plan to stop him and turned to her children, but only the youngest Cronus was willing to participate and help his mother. Gaia created an adamant sickle and gave it to Cronus and hid him in her room. Uranus entered the room ready to sleep with Gaia and Cronus saw his opportunity and hit him, thus castrating his genitals. From the spilled blood he impregnated Gaea, and the erinyes, the neliades and the giants were born to her. Uranus's genitals were thrown into the sea, hence Aphrodite was born.
For this reason Uranus called his sons Titans and told them that they would be punished and that once Cronus took power he would be defeated by his sons, thus repeating history.

Q&A
It is the representation of the heavens in Greek mythology.
Uranus is not considered a God or a Titan since it is prior to the latter. It would be a primordial deity
He is extremely powerful, yet he was defeated by his children.
