I hope you're ready for the continuation of our weekend adventure in Khao Lak! After the 🥾 Trekking to Ton Chong Fa Waterfall 🇹🇭 - A Nature Lover's Dream 🌳 from the previous post and a good lunch, it was time to make the last few short kilometers separating us from our final destination, La Vela Khao Lak.

With so many facilities and a unique, modern design, La Vela looked incredible in the pictures, and we couldn’t wait to see if it lived up to our expectations! In addition, I’d heard there was a mini hot-air balloon exhibition—a perfect opportunity for a bit of family fun and some unique photos 🎈📸, which is what prompted us to go on this weekend adventure.

Located in Phang Nga Province, Khao Lak has become one of Thailand’s top destinations, known for its beautiful beaches, serene resorts, and lush jungles. Despite its peaceful vibe, Khao Lak holds a strong place in Thai tourism history and has been carefully rebuilt since the 2004 tsunami, now boasting modern amenities alongside its natural beauty. Today, it's a favorite for families, honeymooners, and those looking to escape the busier city spots.

We arrived at La Vela around 2 p.m. and, right on time, were able to collect our room keys without delay, as we were well within check-in time. For those who remember from our last adventure: at least here, my husband could have fun with his drone—no forest rangers to come running over and tell him off! Hahaha. 😄🚁

La Vela’s architecture is truly one-of-a-kind. Inspired by the sailboat constellation, the hotel features a unique triangular design reflected throughout, from the buildings to the pools, giving it a style all its own. Every corner seems carefully crafted for that perfect photo moment, making it a truly Instagrammable hotel where you’ll want to capture every view! 📸✨

Our room was modern and beautifully decorated, located on the first floor with a view over one of the countless pools right from the balcony. The space was impressively large—54 square meters—with a king-size bed, a sleek bathtub, and a spacious balcony for relaxing and soaking up the view. Every amenity was thoughtfully provided, making it feel like a true retreat. 🌴🏖️

The bathroom, with its large sliding door and a bathtub complete with all the essentials for a relaxing, bubbly soak, was perfect for unwinding. It had everything we needed to make the experience truly enjoyable. 🛁✨

Alright, we didn’t come all this way just to stay cooped up in our room, especially with such beautiful weather! Isn’t it time to go explore everything this resort has to offer? 🌞

The first to dive into the fun was, of course, my youngest son! He ran straight for the Kids Water Fun area and spent hours splashing around, making the most of every minute. Along the way, he even made a few new friends, bonding over their shared excitement and endless energy. 💦👦👧🌞

As for me, during that time, I took on the important task of testing out a few lounge chairs until I found the perfect one. Hahaha! 😄🌴🛋️

🎈 Finally, the time had come for the mini hot-air balloon show, scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. After all, it’s the main reason we chose this weekend getaway! We made our way to the skate park, where the show was set to take place nearby. After a short walk, we arrived at the scene: a lovely grassy area set up with a buffet 🍲, and several tables on the lawn that were quickly snapped up! Clearly, we weren’t the only ones excited to see this show, haha. 😄

Everyone wanted their perfect shot 📸 with the mini hot-air balloons, which led to a bit of cheerful chaos that made my husband laugh. Each mini balloon was equipped with a small flame burner 🔥, just like a real hot-air balloon, and controlled remotely. It was enchanting to watch these colorful little balloons rise and hover in the sky—truly a magical sight! 🌈

Since the buffet didn’t quite have what we were craving, and waiting for a table seemed like it would take ages, we decided to head over to Spices Restaurant at La Vela, known for its elegant beachfront view and mix of Thai and international dishes.

My two food lovers certainly didn’t miss the chance to indulge once again, ordering everything from sushi to perfectly grilled meats! 😄 The setting was just perfect—a table by the pool with a view of the beach, framed by the golden hues of the setting sun. With the reflection of palm trees in the pool and the calm ocean beyond, the whole scene felt almost surreal. 🌅✨

As the sky began to deepen into shades of pink and orange, we couldn’t help but feel that this dinner was an experience as much as it was a meal. A perfect ending to a day full of adventure and discovery!

After dinner, we decided to take a leisurely stroll along the beach, savoring the moment as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting its final golden rays across the water. 🌅 It’s a scene we never tire of—nature’s daily masterpiece that leaves us in awe every time!

The sunset atmosphere was truly magical, with the vibrant hues of orange and pink reflecting off the sand, turning it into a shimmering golden carpet. 🌅 The vast sun sinking into the horizon made everything feel calm and romantic—an unforgettable ending to a beautiful day.

The dimming sky and the illuminated mini hot-air balloons created a magical atmosphere as night began to fall. Seeing these vibrant balloons against the evening backdrop was like watching a scene from a storybook come to life! ✨🎈 The colors looked even more vibrant in the twilight, and everyone around was captivated by the sight. This enchanting moment was the perfect way to end our evening at La Vela Khao Lak.

After this final stop at the mini hot-air balloon display, we truly wrapped up an extraordinary Saturday that left us in awe. Sunday morning arrived, and my husband was up at the crack of dawn, eager to have some fun with his drone on the beach.

As for me, I was ready with my son at 8 a.m., determined to make the most of our last few hours before heading back to Phuket.

My husband returned just in time, and of course, we went straight to breakfast. It was a classic resort buffet with a chef preparing eggs to order. Given the beautiful weather, we chose a table on the grass to soak up every bit of the morning.

With breakfast devoured, we headed to the beach, which was wonderfully quiet. While my son watched his dad fly the drone, I took a few more photos—as if I hadn’t already taken enough! 😂

Bang Niang Beach, located within Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, stretches along a long, scenic coastline that extends north from Nang Thong Beach to the southern edge of Khuk Khak Beach. 🌴☀️🌊

In the early morning, we could spot fishermen sailing through a narrow channel, heading out to the open sea in search of the day's fresh catch. It was a peaceful scene, watching their boats glide over the gentle waves as they set out to gather seafood for the local markets and restaurants. 🌊🛶🐟

We soaked up every last bit of the La Vela Khao Lak experience, but as noon approached, it was time for check-out and to head back to Phuket. 🌅🚗💨

On our way home, we made a quick stop at Wat Tha Sai—a temple I had spotted on the map, nestled right by the seaside. I’m so glad we did! This hidden gem was truly breathtaking, with its serene beauty and ocean backdrop. A perfect little surprise to end our unforgettable weekend adventure. 🛕🌊✨
