Protaetia (Cetonischema) speciosissima or Smooth bronzovka beetle

I would like to present to you my find yesterday, which was hard not to notice on the asphalt of the sidewalk, because, she, or he, and it was Protaetia (Cetonischema) speciosissima or Smooth bronzovka beetle shone in the sun like a faceted emerald.

Although, the emerald is a duller stone, rather, the green chrysolite shines like that.

It has always been strange to me that the person who first saw this beetle, which lives in the European part of the Eurasian continent, gave it a name associated with bronze, although some beetles do have a bronze tint, but not this one.

The beetle was focused and paid no attention to us, it crawled back and forth along the sidewalk.

I think that this beetle got lost, after all, there where we found it, there were no old trees in whose bark the beetle grows its larvae.

Yes, and fruit trees, the juice of which is the food of the beetle, I did not see here.

Perhaps the beetle decided to take a break before the next flight in search of favorable places for it.

We didn't wait for the beetle to decide to spread its wings, we had to move on.

But, before leaving, in memory of the meeting, I made a short video where you can see this interesting beetle, perhaps the brightest beetle in Ukraine.

Photos taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 camera.
