It is happy times for dialysis patients across my country for months now because we get to go for out regular treatments in a more frequent schedule plus we get to receive free EPO injections. For those that do not know what EPO is, it is a hormone we use to make our bodies or bone marrow to produce red blood cells as the organ that produces it no longer is working which are the Kidneys. So either we get blood transfusions or supplement or inject ourselves doses of EPO from once or twice per week to double that dose based on how the patient would be responding to the EPO injections.
For a long time I was just dependent on blood transfusions until I use EPO because it is less riskier than getting blood transfusions. But regardless I did contracted a blood-borne disease because I have no immunity from it for the reason that I am positive for hepatitis B and so I got the hepatitis C which is no surprise because my blood is always exposed during my hemodialysis because the filter that I use, the dialyzer is re-used and pooled among other dialyzers of other patients and it is just too late for me to be sad about not pout my lips anymore everyday because I cannot do anything anymore about it too.
Anyway, when I was just starting using EPO, its price really is too high for me to purchase by my own pockets considering that was not earning money on my own back then and I was just using the money that my brother gives me to pay for the discounted dialysis service given by our church until it got totally free but then the said free service went away. Then I also make a frequent request from the charity office service to get some free EPO until I am not able to walk physically anymore and just relied on blood transfusions after that.
Over the years I just stopped getting blood transfusions because my body by some miracle is just starting to produce EPO on its own judging by the fact that the hemoglobin in my blood doesn't crash anymore and that my sleeping and eating habits improved a great deal that I am no longer requiring blood transfusions anymore much less those expensive EPOs back then.
Then came now where EPO brands are abound, they cost a third the price to buy and even less. But our government health insurance improved the benefits of the dialysis patients sector which is why I was receiving EPO now without charge. But my hemoglobin remains high and because of that I have to not use my EPO that I am receiving from my dialysis center which is three pieces/doses of it per week.
Now one of my nurses asked me if I was selling my EPO that I carry back home, I told her that I was just accumulating it and she asked why I just sell those so that I can at least make money out of them. So I agreed to sell mine because some patients requires double of the dosage and so they will sell my EPO to such patients with my nurses as intermediary. It will be beneficial for us all and all will be happy because I will get to bring home some cash and the nurse that sold it which will get their share plus the patient will get a reasonable discount instead of buying it from the pharmacy store. That is why visiting the dialysis now will be profitable for me from now on instead of using money to get to the dialysis center.
