I just used this older photo of my mother taken using my older phone.

My mother is not anymore in agony regarding her "Mystery joint pain" issue which plagued her for quite a number of months already. So recently I just asked my brother to send her to a specialist, I told my brother that I will shoulder the expenses and thankfully my brother took heed because after all he has a new car and it wouldn't be a problem for him to bring our mother to a much sensible type of doctor which could figure-out what is wrong with our mother's unusual join pain issue.

That is why we got a diagnosis of "Crystal-induced Arthritis" which is why my mother was prescribed with Colchicine and NSAIDs. But these two medicines doesn't cut the head of the snake, they are just a temporary relief and will not really cure my mother's joint pain issue. Using NSAID for a long-term is never better, it can cause Kidney failure, liver issues, and ulcers in the gut like to the walls of the stomach and the intestines.

So I wasn't that happy with the way that my mother is treated because unfortunately there is no cure for crystal-induced arthritis, only to manage the pain. So my mother now is just planning not to go to her doctor anymore but I just protested about that idea because her Rheumatologist doctor might prescribe her a medicine although based on my light research she will just be prescribed of what I mentioned already.

I tried to make sense of what my mother's diagnosis is and factored-out what could be causing it. For one thing it is caused by purine crystals but my mother doesn't eat food high in purines. The said diagnosis also is caused by Calcium crystals and that made me to wonder that my mother could be having much calcium from the calcium carbonate that she was taking everyday. Again with a light "Googling" research, my mother could either be having too much calcium or too less magnesium.

Magnesium is a mineral that makes the bones also absorb calcium and too less of it might cause Calcium backlog in the blood and calcium could crystalize in the joints of some people and that is my personal hypothesis and conclusion for that matter. Now since my mother is having a joint pain maybe from the calcium supplement that she was taking which is only one 500 mg tablet per day, any additional magnesium in my opinion would not help I guess.

Now with all that factoring-out guesses, I told my mother to just stop taking calcium anymore "cold Turkey". Well what do you know? it just worked! My mother is feeling much of an ease already because she is not moaning and groaning with pain anymore and she just told me that her right shoulder is already gaining function because she can already slowly move it up without much pain anymore like before.

I am happy more than ever and I just hope that taking calcium carbonate off as my mother's supplement was indeed the factor that was causing my mother's joint pain issue and I still have to observe more. If it was the head of the snake so to speak, then I guess that my mother will have to not use calcium carbonate anymore because it is not fit for her anymore to take i as it cases such debilitating joint pain issues.
