Hello everyone. A few days ago I visited Castellón de la Plana. And had a delightful trip to see how this charming city was decorated for Christmas and New Year. Here are my impressions from the visit…
My first stop was the central park. While walking through the park, I listened to the cheerful chirping of parrots. From there I headed toward the main square. The park was transformed into a festival of lights, adorned with illuminated Christmas trees and intriguing figures. Despite it being December, the temperature was around 20 degrees. Some people were strolling in coats, while others were wearing shorts. The excitement of the approaching holidays was palpable everywhere. Before sunset it was 20°C, which later dropped to 14°C, but it was still perfect for a walk.
I continued toward the main square. On my way I passed a charming stall selling holiday treats like churros and hot dogs. Castellón de la Plana is a small town under the Valencia municipality, about an hour's train ride from Valencia. For Christmas and New Year's Eve, the streets and shops were meticulously decorated. It felt like stepping into the magical world of childhood fairy tales. Joyful melodies filled the air.
I encountered an interesting parade on the street before finally reaching the square: a dazzling fountain, cheerful crowds and a gigantic Christmas tree glowing with lights. It was a breathtaking sight. The square was bursting with festive spirit: vibrant flowers and sparkling Christmas trees adorned every corner. Wearing my Christmas sweater, I joined in the celebration. Young people were bowling, a nostalgic carousel was spinning nearby and there was a fountain and a table hockey area. In short, the square had entertainment for all ages. People were there to enjoy a pleasant evening and share the holiday cheer.
A beautifully lit building caught my attention in the square. A little further, men in knight costumes and women in medieval dresses were adding a unique touch to the scene. It was evident that various events were being held throughout the holiday season. After examining a miniature plan of the building complex, I took a closer look at its real-life grandeur. The square also hosted several board games, delighting both children and adults. And a stage for main concerts was set up. I marveled at the stunning view of the tower.
A small Christmas market was set up in the square. Alongside the main market, there were cozy cafes. People were wandering around, taking souvenir photos. The scenery was beautiful. It’s worth noting that Castellón de la Plana is located on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Despite it being Christmas, the surroundings were lush green, fountains were flowing and the weather was quite mild. Strolling through the central streets of the city, I felt the warmth of the festive atmosphere and the joy of people enjoying themselves.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year. May all your wishes come true and may the new year bring even more joy and success than the last. 🎅
