Hello everyone. Today I am in La Ràceta, a lively neighborhood in Valencia. My journey began at one of Valencia's main train stations, built in 1906-1907 with a stunning modernist style. From here you can easily catch suburban trains to explore the surrounding areas.
La Ràceta is located close to the city center and is home to a vibrant Chinese community. As one of Valencia's two Chinatowns, this neighborhood is bustling with activity. You’ll find plenty of Chinese restaurants, Asian grocery stores, and even phone repair shops. For those who enjoy shopping, the area also boasts a variety of stores.
Around 4700 people live here, making it quite a densely populated spot. On Tuesdays the neighborhood hosts a lively market offering affordable clothing, bags, shoes, and more. If you're searching for Asian cuisine or unique items, this is the place to be.
There were plans to add Chinese-style decorations to the neighborhood, but the city authorities declined. The area holds historical significance as it's said to be the burial site of San Vicente Mártir, Valencia's patron saint, who is remembered for his steadfast faith despite persecution. His body was miraculously preserved and later buried next to a church in the area.
As I walked towards the church, I passed numerous Chinese-run businesses, including a large supermarket and a beauty salon. Despite the neighborhood’s bustling vibe, I stumbled upon a quieter street with small green squares where you can relax in peace.
Part of the Extramurs district La Ràceta is a densely built area surrounded by parks and other amenities. Although busy and noisy, its proximity to the city center and multicultural atmosphere make it an appealing choice for many, especially those fond of Asian cuisine and culture.
Housing prices here generally start at around €200.000 for apartments, but it’s always a good idea to check the latest market data for accurate information.
La Ràceta is a neighborhood with its own unique charm. While it might feel noisy to some, its central location and well-developed infrastructure make it an excellent option for those looking for a vibrant and diverse place to live.
