Hello, #steem lovers, especially #photography lovers..

Indonesia has a diverse culture, meaning each region has its own traditions. For example, in Aceh, there is a tradition in the 28th week of pregnancy, in which women or wives who are pregnant are sent rice, side dishes, and various foods from their husband's parents, or in the local language called "Keumaweuh". Both the husband's family and the wife's family participate in this tradition as a way to give thanks for welcoming the baby into their family.

This traditional procession aims to establish closeness between family members, and it is used to pray for the safety and health of the mother. There are a series of traditional processions in this seven-month tradition, including "Peumano Tujoeh Buleun", involving women who are pregnant being bathed. The person who bathes the pregnant woman and her husband is usually an elder in the village or their parents. A variety of flowers are soaked in the water used for bathing. The procession is accompanied by the recitation of holy words and prayers, followed by a change of clothing for the mother.

A second procession is called "Peusijuek", which is a traditional procession in which flowers and plants are combined and placed in water, then lifted and placed on the wife's feet and palms. Peusijuks are usually led by village elders and prayed for to ease the labor process. The intention of the Peusijukuk is to thank the Creator and request prayers for the safety of the future mother and baby.

The next procession is to eat together with all the families who have attended the event. As a gesture of gratitude, the pregnant woman shakes hands with each invitee. Once that is done, the husband's parents and the entire family of the husband will say their goodbyes and go home.

That's how this "Peusjiuk" and "Keumaweuh" tradition has become a hereditary custom in the Acehnese community. In addition to pleasing the pregnant mother, this tradition also improves the relationship between the wife's family and her husband. Medically this is very helpful because a pregnant woman needs high nutrition for herself and the baby. TAs a result, this Keumaweuh event is meant to ensure that both mother and baby are provided with the proper nutrition so that they can remain healthy until delivery.
