Hello friends, today I went to make merit by offering alms to about 100 monks. Every year before the Chinese New Year, at Wat Khanon Nang Yai, a famous temple in Ratchaburi Province, which has passed down the tradition of shadow puppetry and was awarded a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage (ACCU) award in June 2007.
The abbot of Wat Khanon will preside over the gathering of monks from all over the country to practice meditation and Vipassana for about 10 days every year. My family and I will come to make merit every year by bringing food, rice, and drinking water to offer to the monks.
And there will be villagers and the hosts who will jointly host by bringing sweet and savory food to offer to the monks every day for the 10 days. We all believe that if we make merit with monks who practice well by practicing meditation and concentration, we will gain a lot of merit and make merit with as many as 100 monks at one time.
The area in front of Wat Khanon is a forest full of large trees and very shady, suitable for monks to meditate and develop their minds. And at the entrance there is a picture of 3 monkeys covering their ears, mouths and eyes, symbolizing that we have come here to reduce and abandon our defilements by not being aware of what we hear, see and speak, so that our hearts and minds can be pure.
Thank you to all my friends who have supported me.
