In the afternoon, I strolled around Shaxi Ancient Town in Taicang with my friends. The festive atmosphere was quite strong, and we happened to come across a dragon dance team with the sound of gongs and drums filling the air—bringing the true feeling of the New Year. When it comes to Taicang, the only well-known local delicacy seems to be Taicang shredded pork (rousong). The ancient town of Shaxi is filled with small shops selling it. On the street, I also saw "rousong bones" for sale, priced at 35 yuan per jin. They are quite similar to braised pork bones. Over the past couple of days, the daytime temperature has been around 15 degrees Celsius, and it doesn’t feel cold at all. Are there any other must-try local delicacies in Taicang?
