—I originally wanted to try the crab roe paste at Crab King Restaurant, but after making several reservation calls, I found it was fully booked. So, I decided to have some classic Shanghai cuisine instead. The time-honored Shen Yan (Panyu Road branch) is hidden in an alley and exudes the charm of old Shanghai. The drunken crab marinated in ten-year aged huadiao wine and the classic Shanghai-style braised pork belly were excellent. I hadn’t had Four-Joy Wheat Gluten in a long time, so I ordered that too. I ended the meal with red bean paste soup balls and pan-fried buns, leaving me completely satisfied. At an average of 150 RMB per person, this Shanghai eatery offers great value for money, don’t you think?
