I think it is hard to fathom the struggle the poor go through and how much more expensive it is go be broke and have a broke mindset. I have seen it in my parents. They sort of do stuff that doesn't make sense. They will drive real far to get certain things a grocery store in another town that is way out of the way but they aren't really saving anything when you factor in gas and then there time has been devalued. They already devalued their time so badly by watching the news 18 hours / day for the last 20 years. Ridiculous.

"The News" is interesting. Rarely is anything important covered. And, if it is really important, they repeat it often.
So, why watch "The News" at all. I find it better to read about it the day after on X, or often the day before.
And you get it predigested, with commentary from based people.
The poor, really do think poorly. I am unsure if it is just the way we educate, or the way we talk about money on the TV. Adverts really do affect the poor. Goes right into the brain.
Like you said, the poor go to the next town over to save a little. They are so sure they are saving money.
But the do not include their time
They do not include gas costs
They do not include vehicle wear and tear.
This said, i used to drive 60 miles to get to a real grocery store.

It's tough to really educate them but yeah I told my parents they can pretty much consume stuff on X for 30 minutes / day and learn more than they would watching the news for 18 hours.
