When Social inSecurity was started, there were dozens of working men paying into the system to support each retiree.
Now, with the Baby Boomer generation retiring, things were estimated to be two people working to support each retiree. But, then covaids happened, and now we have a lot of people out of the work force. We may be looking at each working person supporting two people in retirement. This is not acceptable. It is too much burden.
And this is just the financial part of it.
What about the caring for part? Those people who help the elderly. The nurses, the caretakers, the doctors? We don't have enough of these people.
Since we destroyed the family, and even the nuclear family, just who will take care of all these retiring people?

Not enough health care providers
There are apx 75 million baby boomers, in a country of 300 million. (speaking of America)
So, 1 in 4 people are retiring.
Taking care of someone is no easy task. There are horror stories about care facilities. From both sides. Elderly getting poor service, harassment and their things stolen. Nurses working a soul crushing job where they have way too many people to care for.
Think of it this way. Out of 3 people who could care, at least 1 is juvenile or dangerous to have working with elderly. That leaves two people to care for the one elderly. Which one of you is going to do it?
Further, there are a lot of people who were, basically abandoned during childhood to raise themselves. These people are not keen to help out. Their parents wanted to go out and do things, to experience life. And then both parents decided to have a career. Whichever way, many children are jaded, and do not consider it important to take care of their parents. And those children had less children, until we end up at today, where we just assume that people who need health care and elderly care will just pay for it. It is for other people to do.
And since it is not one out of every two people you know are nurses, (and other care providers, and care material manufacturers) then we do not have enough people to care for these boomers.

Not enough working men
Many young men are checking out of the workforce.
Everything is stacked against them, and their is no reward for them working through that obstacle course.
It is all stick, and no carrot… well, it is more two or three sticks and no carrot.
Many work environments are hostile towards men.
Many men have taken to recording all interactions because they may be accused of harassment at any time. Men are bad. This is taught in schools. The things men do are not appreciated.
The whole, get a lovely wife and a loving family is gone for young men who decide to go into the trades. Although they are sorely needed in the trades. The men who keep the lights on and the water flowing. Women do not want these men. They want to date only college educated (because they are college educated) men. So, the thing that has encouraged men for so long to give up their life, to support a family, is gone.
So, of those two people who are supposed to financially support the retirees, well, a good number of them have just given up on having a career or working hard.
The financial support will not be here to pay for the boomers' retirement.

You add all these things up, and you end up with two, concurrent, bad scenarios.
There will not be enough taxes to pay for the retired boomers, so this will be paid for with printing money, which will go straight into inflating prices.
There will not be enough people to look after these ageing people, even if there was all the money in the world.
The problems started by the summer of love is now coming home to roost. The destruction of the family will now be felt.
In Canada they are already talking about euthanasia as a choice for elderly.
The future is not looking good for the boomers. The rest of America is going to be facing the Greater Depression. A time when everyone pulls back and does their best to fend for themselves.
Soup lines are one thing, taking care of overweight/obese elderly is another.
I really do not have many good solutions for this.
Except to just straight up pay off all the retirees' mortgages, and then all they need is food and fuel.
And this will probably be done in the worst way, like the Fed now owns all the houses.
