I am willing to put my limited knowledge out there to say although the posts 'look' deleted, there should be an original copy somewhere unless that block was not 'witnessed' there for nullifying it's existence. The witness verify these things by consesnsus vote and adding it to the chain as a block. There are probably problems sometimes depending on the nodes being used as well as the consensus on which fork is the legit version. That is all I know so far after 3 years of using this site.

"Unless that block was not 'witnessed' there for nullifying it's existence."
I think this is the case. The posts I have seen that "no longer exist" were taken down within 24 hours of posting and not by the user. So, I think that is the key. Removal has to happen before the block is chained so to speak.
Thanks.

I actually noticed the same phenomenon with the posts of one of the bloggers that I follow. I thought that's because they were private or for friends only. I guess I was wrong.
Then there was that video I posted on DTube last fall, which is no longer there. I thought that Steemit and DTube do not in any way remove content. But now what I have is empty channel, the video is gone.

I have seen so many removed posts, I just had to ask.
