The Turkey Bird A Special Domestic Animal //@essygold/28/02/22

Hello fellow Animal lovers, how are you doing? Hope you are having a nice time. Let's talk about a specie in the Bird kingdom as there are many birds. I specifically want to discuss about the Turkey bird. My brother has a group of this lovely birds. We can call them the Guinee Fowl.

The Turkey is a large bird that has several colours just like the rainbow, these different colours can be seen on its feathers. It feeds on the ground just like the chickens.

Let me tell you about my brothers Turkey. The name is 'Tolotolo" the Guinee fowl. Its a very unique bird that can display stylishly once you call its name to dance for you. On display it will walk about majestically spreading its wings widely like an umbrella.

These bird is very sensitive and selective too. It knows its environment hence it works around just within its territory. It can easily detect a stranger and is willing to attack you if you dare it.

They usually move in groups.

If you want to domesticate it. Its best you have 1 male to 10 females. Once it starts to mate, it will like to have a steady female because once a female starts to lay eggs and is sitting on the eggs, the male will look for another female. It takes 28 days of continuous incubation and the hen can lay up to 12 to 15 eggs. The eggs are very big and spotted with some brownish colours.

During incubation period the male has already started mating with another female. But if it does not see a hen to mate with, the male will fall sick and may eventually die. No wonder my brother always prefers more females to one male. Some that cannot afford that will only train the male so mating will not occur and the male will live for a long time.

The feeding of the Tolotolo is not difficult. You can buy their ready made feeds from the animal food market or a Veterinary store. As they move about their environment, they feed on green grass. The major issue you will have while training this birds is cleaning their cage and the environment as they can mess up the place with their feaces.

Generally people love the Turkey bird. When you cook or fry it, the meat is very tasty and sweet. The eggs when cooked is very delicious. My brother usually eat 2 of the eggs from the hen whenever it lays 12 eggs and allow it to hatch the remaining 10 eggs. Some people don't like eating the head of the Turkey bird for various reasons best known to them but my brother usually eats the Tolotolo head.
