Greetings friends of steem travelers today I would like to share with you a personal discovery that I made some time ago when I was doing some activities in the city of Maracaibo!
When we talk about traveling and getting to know is always supposed to make a tour in lands that are not ours, to learn about their culture, and sidfrutar of its landscapes, however there are many people who are visiting foreign places do not know those structures with historical value in their own city!
So enjoying an adventure does not mean that we have to go far away or risk entering forbidden places, sometimes it just takes being attentive to our surroundings and observe what most people overlook, and we will discover more than one hidden gem.
It happened to me, one morning I was accompanying my sister to run some errands in downtown Maracaibo, she had to wait and I told her I was going to walk around there, I was in the Plaza Baralt and next to a shopping center I saw a church that I found very nice and that did not match the rest of the stores around it, at the moment I could not take a picture of its facade, but I show you a reference image:
Although they were waiting for me, as I saw that it was open I decided to enter and there I was able to take a picture of its interior.

As I am Catholic I took the opportunity to pray a little for my family and then I noticed that next to the chapel there was a convent, and I took a couple of pictures before leaving:

Then I inquired a little about the history of this beautiful temple located between stores in the middle of Baralt street and I understood that it was the San Francisco de Asis Church, (my grandfather had that name) and it was built between 1669 and 1730 and for a long time its facilities were used as a convent, as a school and even as the first headquarters of the University of Zulia. source
I am particularly happy to find it open and although I am not specifically from Maracaibo I will try to return soon to this small sanctuary, which has a lot of historical value but is not given the diffusion it deserves.
Thank you very much for reading!
