In this blog I am going to give you all everything you need to know about lake tilicho and also let you know how my journey went.
So let's begin
Trek itinerary we followed:
Day 1 : Jeep ride to Chamje-Baragarhchhap-Chame-Pisang-Manag(3,540m)
Day 2 : Trek to Khangsar village (3,700 m) 3-4 hours
Day 3 : Trek to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200 m) 4-5 hours.
Day 4 : Trek to Tilicho lake (4,919m), Again back to Tilicho base camp (4,200 m) 5-6 hours.
P.S.- There were many small waterfall on the way to manag village but at Chame your eyes can witness magnificent waterfall with highspeed wind which in turn make the atmosphere cold.
We started our trek from Manage village to reach place called khangsar. This place was tough for everyone of us who was travelling to tilicho lake. The way was straight up and everyone were finding difficult to walk as it was our first walk. It was probably 4 hours of walk till we reach our day 2 destination i.e. Khangsar village . This was probably the shortest we walked in whole trek but was fun(No pain no gain)
Everyday our trek was getting harder but interesting because everyone of us had that epic view of lake tilicho in our mind. We started our journey from Khangsar village to Tilicho base camp and in hour we saw the most dangerous path where huge rocks were hanging above us as if it was to fall down any moment. That very area is called "Land slide area" as huge landslide occur everyday(Everyone should be really careful in this area). Not everyone were equally able walk so we made sure everyone walk along us so that no one gets lost in that landslide area. At the end of the landslide trail we can see the "Tilicho base camp" and we reached at the base camp approximately in 5 hours. It was one best walked 5 hour of my life.
PICTURE OF LANDSLIDE TRAIL
Finally we started our journey from Tilicho base camp to the highest situated lake Tilicho. Finally this was the hardest of all part. For moment I thought of returning back to base camp as the way ahead was extremally challenging. By challenging I mean there was place called BAISH GHUMTI which literally translate to 22 turning. Trekker had to cross 22 round of turning to get to top of that mountain . The wind was blowing hard , the bag you carry fells like rock, crazy cold weather and most heart breaking moment was that when you reach to the top and realize that is not even destination. We walked 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the speed of everyone and finally came the most amazing part of our trek i.e. witnessing Lake tilicho In a second our every pain and tiredness vanished after we saw the lake.
This was the moment where everyone of gathered and took a group picture.
