Heya fellow steemians, it’s another great day with a great contest in this great community, thus #Steem-Travelers. Thanks to the admins and @hive-111293 for this great work. Kudos to you.
Trees are natural resources given us by the Almighty God. Some for medicinal purposes, some for decorations, others as a source of food, and some other purposes.
There are a lot of trees in Ghana, which are mostly for food, decorations, as a source of herbal medicine, and as a source of income for the country(timber). We have the baobab tree, the neem tree, moringa, mango, Wawa trees etc.
But for the sake of this contest I will be talking about the baobab tree locally known as Stu Tia in Tamale.
Stu Tia is a tree in the Northern part of Ghana, and it’s known as Baobab in English. It is a source of food to us during the harmattan season, it also serve as medicine.
The Baobab serve as a tree for life in the Northern part of Ghana. It leaves is a source of food to us, we use it to prepare soup known as Kuuka or Tikari.
We dry the leaves and pound it into powder or at times we use the fresh leaves to prepare the soup. It is normally taken with Tuo Zaafi.
During the harmattan season, the tree produces fruits known as Sturi in our language(Dagbani). It’s very dry and hard when ripped. We will crack it and eat the inner white fruits. Some use it to prepare drink.
The seeds is also used to prepare Dawadawa which is used in the preparation of soup and for medicinal purposes too.
The back of the tree is used as medicine. Used to cure baby illness and disease like; skin rashes, body odor, STD’s etc. And when the root is mixed with other trees roots cures other illness.
The tree is very useful to us and saves lives a lot. So we don’t joke with it, can’t mention all.
I invite @sixson and @med.habib to partake in this great contest.
Thank you for the time and attention. I really appreciate.🙏🏾
