Ikogosi warm and cold spring
There's a very special warn and cold water spring located in Southwestern part of Nigeria in a small town called Ikogosi. Ikogosi is located in Ekiti state. The spring was discovered in 1950 by Revd. J. S. McGee of the Nigerian Baptist convention.
Originally the clergyman is stationed in another town called Igede. He made efforts to visit the source of the spring against the advice of the indigenes of the town. It was believed that whoever visited the source of the river will be killed by the spirits that governed the spring. This brave Missionary visited the source of the springs and turn it to a focus of attraction. The government would later take over the place after the retirement of Revd. McGee.
I visited the site alongside my course mates in the year 2008 and I can tell it is a perfect tourism site. I touched the warm spring from it's source and I could tell it should be between 65 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees. The cold spring was much below room temperature. There's a confluence where the warm and cold spring meet and it should be around 30 degrees Celsius.
There is a swimming pool in the site being fed directly by the warm spring. So many facilities have been put in place to put Ikogosi spring on the tourism map. If you have a reason to visit Nigeria, Ikogosi warm spring resort is definitely one of the places you should visit.
It is a pleasure for me to greet you on behalf of Steem Travelers.
