This is my first post here so I thought I should share a little bit of my country culture with everyone.
I am from Nigeria, and we Nigerians love party and we love to celebrate things, from birthday, to funeral, to naming, to wedding to even retirement or house warming ceremony, every weekend from Friday till Sunday are party days and something common other that there is always plenty of nice food is that there is always a native attire chosing by the celebrant for everyone that will be attending the party so that everyone is wearing a uniformed outfit.
This practice as become a culture and it has been in existence for years and will surely continue because as long as there is people culture can't die. The fun thing about this practice is that the celebrant chooses a native attire that guest would buy and sew in different styles they want and everyone gets to show off their own style at the party.
Importance
Now let's go to the importance of the practice, although it is not compulsory you wear the same outfit, neither is not forced, just to be clear.
It create a sense of unity
The act of wearing the same outfit definitely gives a sense or aura of love and unity in the party, getting to a party and seeing everyone wearing the same cloth just makes you feel relaxed and among. It even lightens the heart of the celebrant seeing different people coming together to celebrate with them.
It makes the party more colorful
One thing about party is the glamour of it and how colorful it is, so choosing an attire that matches definitely makes the party more colorful and lively. It also helps the celebrant to choose the kind of mood they want at their party, of course we know color can influence the mood around us, so choosing a matching attire helps in dictating the mood the celebrant wants the party to be like.
To help identify guest
Another importance to this practice is that it helps celebrant or security to help identify guest easily, because the world is turning to something else this day, apart from that some people might want to gatecrash the event, so to help prevent all that, choosing a matching attire will help security to know who is whom and to know who to be allowed inside the event to prevent unwanted situations.
The Significance
So now let's talk about the significance of this practice to us Nigerians.
This practice as been in existence for a long time and it is part of our culture and who will her and how our party is planned. You hardly see a party that there won't be a matching attire chosing for the ceremony, so event planner of the family always include the budget or plans on which attire to choose for every party. Now a party can be said to be incomplete if there is no Aso-Ebi chosing for the event, so this practice is a very important part in our culture.
Before I go I will like to drop some pictures of me in some Aso-Ebi with family and friends
A picture of me and my friends in a white and blue themed high school graduation ceremony
A picture of me and my family at my sister's wedding party in a cream and wine color themed party
Thank you very much for reading see you next time.
