12 districts affected by severe floods, 8 deaths : Bangladesh

Flooding in Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

Flash floods have occurred in 10 districts of the country due to the torrential rains coming down from Tripura in upstream India and the heavy rains of the last few days. 3.6 million people have become waterlogged and have suffered losses. However, there are reports of two more districts affected by floods. In the last two days, eight people have died due to drowning and electrocution in four districts.

Flood situation occurred in eight districts since last Wednesday. A total of 12 districts including four more districts were affected by floods yesterday. The districts are Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Cox's Bazar, Laxmipur, Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj. Army has been deployed in five districts to help flood victims. Army personnel are distributing relief and food among the flood victims.

Due to the flooding of the railway lines, the trains of Chittagong and Sylhet across the country have been stopped since yesterday. There is water in many places on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Vehicles are moving slowly on that road. Many flood affected areas are without electricity. Many mobile towers are down due to prolonged power outages. People in all those areas have been cut off from communication.

A major disaster has occurred in Feni due to flash floods. After Phulghazi, Parashuram and Chagalnaya, Feni town was also inundated yesterday. Knees somewhere, waist somewhere, water everywhere.
