Ever seen a political party candidate for election doing crazy things to campaign for his win as governor, president or senate? One man called Senator Oba in Uyo, Nigeria did many things in the process of his campaign. He promised to be the best governor if citizens vote for him. One of the crazy good things he did was building a recreational center for a particular village and that recreational center is the place I want to pin on the steem-atlas map.
The place is called Multi-purpose recreational facility and event center, commissioned in the year 2022. It's called a Multi-purpose Recreational Facility because it offers lots of recreational services and infrastructure to those living in that village. These includes; Badminton Tennis Pitch, Basketball court, Football pitch, a tech buildings for computer knowledge, etc. Let me give you a walk from the gate. Before doing so, these are some specifications.....

Entrance |

This recreational center has two entrances, one close to the entrance of the street and another at the far end of the street. It's on a motorable place that's tarred and people coming out from the street can access the main entrance which is the one at the farther end while those entering the street can access the first gate which isn't the main gate.
There are two security posts by the entrances , each guarded by two security men. The entrances are shielded with black iron gate that's firm and difficult to even open. You need to use strength because the gate makeup is thick. These are the two security posts at the entrances. Then, it wasn't monetizable but now that election is over and its left in the hands of managers, these security posts monetize their structure by selling cold drinks and water to outsiders.

It's not a bad strategy because my city lacks basic electricity and in situations where the weather isn't friendly in temperature, people need something to cold them down. That's why this provision was made. Moving on - Structure
Structure |
---|
When the building project of this place was carried out, I never knew it would be a recreational center because people's houses were demolished though compensated with huge amount of money to evacuate. I may not be accurate with the size in terms of hectares of lands but I can compared it to 60 feets in length if it were to be measured that way and then 24 feets in width.
The walls of the recreational center are painted in yellow colour and barbed wires are placed to prevent Intruders during the day and night. Street lights are mounted in every corner of the building to make it shine as though it's a stadium. The solar lights are turned on at night for visibility. Solar lights are also placed in every pitches, though such activities aren't done at night.
The walkways are tarred and buildings in there have solid structures especially that of the event center. I'll shed more light when I talk about it.
Generator House |
---|
This is a place where the big sound proof diesel generators are kept and holes are made out of the buildings for ventilation and removal of smoke. If the who place wants to be powered, the diesel generator would be turned on for this purpose. It is located adjacent to the security post. It's more like the size of a self-contain building.
Health or Medical Center |
---|
This is behind the generator house and it was build for special purposes with regards to sport and other recreational activities done there. Why a medical center in this place? It's very necessary because anything involving sports has injuries attached to it. Someone can have cramps in the process of playing football or a serious injury. The medical centre serves the purpose of treating the wounds and offering first aid treatment.
The medical centre is equipped with medical equipment that can serve the purpose of caring for injured athletes. Directly opposite the medical center is the basketball court. The basketball court is as big as the normal sized basketball court in athletic competitions. Its floor is made of concrete though in a fairly smooth way to avoid sliding and fatal accidents when there's a fall.
The basketball court is free for anyone to use and train except the football field. This is a recreational activity for people who knows how to play basketball. They come here every weekends to train and also compete with others. Opposite the basketball court is a badminton court.

Badminton Court and Football field |
---|
The badminton court is opposite the basketball court and it has its entrance at the opposite end of the basketball court. It is fenced with barred wired which prevents the ball from leaving the court since it's a tennis court.
It's as wide and long as the normal size of a single badminton court. It's painted blue and red as it's known for and it had solar lights round it which lights up the area at night. It has just one badminton net for two players and it's lowered in a way that won't look like volleyball.
Entry Fee | Free |
---|
The football field is beside the badminton court in an open area surrounding by a large round walkway that's tarred. Beside the field are two erected stands for viewers who come to view the matches played. Plastic chairs are given when there's such an event. The field is maintained every 3 weeks as grasses do overgrow. Opposite the football field is the event center that follows the name of the place.
Renting the football field for training or competitions costs 20k which in hive value is 52 hive. Though the field is not as big as a standard field, it is comfortable to play on. I do come to this place for workout and sport and I happen to cover a competition between two fitness teams
Event Center |
---|
This event center is as big as a warehouse and was used for campaign purposes that year. It's a barely used place ever since the campaign came to a halt. Maybe in future, the place would be monetized to host events and the likes as people barely know of such. Large Air conditioners and Wash-hand sink are placed at the entrance. There's a toilet situation by the second entrance for those who may want to make use of it.

Parking lots are so accommodating that 100 cars can comfortably park their cars and leave without traffic as there are many entry and exit places. Another notable place is the show kitchen where foods are prepared, meats fried and the likes to entertain those who recreate here.

My review of this place is 90% because social amenities like water and light are given to the public for free. People come in there to fetch water during morning hours before it's locked during the day. The place runs solar systems that can carry the entire building and in each poll that supports the viewing stadium, there are sockets for people to charge their phones. This was what made me know the place and Boom, I'm a huge fan.
