Hello, my fellow Steemians friends! How is the day with you? Best wishes ahead. I am from North Central Nigeria in West Africa. I am grateful to the organizer of this contest. Thank you @abdullahw2 for the contest.
IN TERMS OF CARE AND QUALITY, WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE HOSPITALS?
I hail from North Central Nigeria in West Africa, the giant of Africa.
In terms of care and quality, between the private and public hospitals, the private takes the lead.
The public hospital is owned by a government of the country, either federal, state, or local authorities. while the private ones belong to private Individuals and organizations.
The main difference between them is, that there are quality and necessary facilities in private hospitals; even though the public has them, but not comparable.
More attention is given to patients in private than public hospitals. The medical personnel in public do not give patients the required services sometimes because the government pays, whether the service is rendered or not.
Workers in private observe their duties by being prompt and discharge them as when due. They always tidy the hospital environment very well.
Every worker in a public hospital feels it's not his property, and so cares not much in the discharge of his duty.
Private hospitals give much care and treatment to attract customers, maximize their profits, and minimize costs.
IN YOUR COUNTRY, HOW IS THE COST OF TREATMENT DIFFERENT FROM PRIVATE AND PUBLIC HOSPITALS?
The cost of treatment in my country, Nigeria, between private and public hospitals is not very different.
The private hospitals charge a little higher than the public because the sources of their facilities and the remuneration of the staff come from the patients. But for the public, they come from government confers.
Public hospitals only subsidize beds and services, but the treatment that has to do with laboratory tests and drugs is almost charged as equal to that of private.
WHICH TYPE OF HOSPITAL DO YOU PREFER FOR REGULAR CHECKUPS, AND WHY?
As for me, I prefer a regular check-up in private hospitals; it's because they normally observe their work very well and give all their time to the work.
They don't fix an appointment with a patient without fulfilling, unlike the public, where most of the personnel have their private hospitals where more attention is given.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN HOSPITALISED? HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE?
Yes, I have been hospitalized in both public and private hospitals some time ago. I was given more attention in private than in public hospitals.
The doctors attended to me at the stipulated time in the private than the public hospitals at the various times I needed their services.
I was counseled more by the health personnel in private than the public hospitals.
In a nutshell, I prefer a regular check-up in private than public hospitals.
The reason is that the private always tries to give the best to attract customers, unlike the public, which is more of a social service where there is no personal reward.
This has marked my story for the day. I want to invite @vickyson @josepha and @simonnwigwe to join the contest.
