Citizenship means the status of being part of a state or nation and having the rights and responsibilities of an active member of a society. All this includes the following citizen participation in public life like voting in elections, as well as enjoying the civil liberties which are allowed by the law of the state or nation. For example, I am a citizen of right which means I have the right to participate in elections and other things in Nigeria.

How can one become a citizen of a country? Explain one way.

One can become a citizen of a country by birth or descent, and there are many other ways one can become a citizen of a country, however by birth is the most common.

Citizenship by birth:
This means that someone was born in the state or nation and automatically gained citizenship rights. However, being born in some countries doesn't automatically make someone a citizen of the country which such a person must have to register first.

Explain 3 duties of a citizen.

• THE duty to be law-abiding. A citizen must abide by the law of his or her state or nation and ensure that others abide by the rules and regulations of the state or nation.

• A citizen must pay tax when due for the provision of amenities. The duty of paying tax to the government when due is a duty that a citizen holds to the government so social amenities can be provided.

• the citizen must avoid vandalization of public property. A citizen must avoid vandalization (destruction) of public property.
