Who is a citizen
A citizen is a legal member of a nation who has been accepted and be granted rights and have obligations to do for his/her nation.

Citizenship therefore, can simply be seen as the status of being a legal and an accepted member of a nation (citizen), who enjoys certain privileges and have responsibilities to do as well.

Citizenship has alot of benefits which includes;
Giving the citizen of that nation the right to enjoy certain privileges.
Giving the citizens sense of belonging.
Having the opportunity to participate in the economic and political aspect of the nation etc.

How can one become a citizen of a country? Explain one way.

There are different ways in which a person can become a citizen of a country,, one of the ways is:

Citizen by birth: A person becomes the citizen of a country automatically when he/she is born in that country. And you can also become a citizen by birth right when your parents are residing in that country and it happens that the gave birth to you there. This is one of the most simplest and most common way to become a citizen of a country.

To become a citizen of a country by other ways,, alot of things will be required from you, which will includes registration, staying there for a specific period of time, taking oath of allegiance, having grandparents in that country etc. Making citizen by birth the easiest way to become a citizen of a country.

Explain 3 duties of a citizen.

The three duties of a citizen are

  1. Payment of tax: it is the duty of every citizen of a country to pay his/her tax to the federal government of the country. Payment of tax can be done either directly or indirectly.

  2. Complying with the rules and regulations governing the country: it is the duty of every citizen of the country to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations, and avoid violating those rules and regulations.

  3. Active participation in the political issues of the country: A citizen is saddle with the responsibility to register and ensure he/she participate in politics, by going out to vote during election of the country.
