Things to do after mango buds appear.

When mango trees start to bloom, proper care is essential to ensure a good harvest and prevent pest or disease attacks. Here are some important steps to take:

1. Tree Care & Water Management

Reduce watering when flowers (mukul) appear, as excess moisture can cause them to drop.
If the weather is dry, provide light irrigation, but avoid waterlogging.
Keep the area around the tree clean to prevent pest infestations.

2. Pest & Disease Control

To prevent insect attacks (flower-boring insects, hoppers, mealybugs.

Use insecticides like Imidacloprid or Cypermethrin.

Apply neem oil as a natural remedy
To prevent fungal diseases (powdery mildew,
Spray copper or sulfur-based fungicides.

3. Proper Fertilization

Apply phosphorus and potassium-rich fertilizers before flowering (November-December.
Spray boron and zinc during flowering to increase bloom retention and fruit formation
Proper care will yield good results.

4. Pruning Excess Blooms

If too many flowers appear, thin them out slightly to ensure better fruit quality.
Overcrowded blooms can lead to small or underdeveloped mangoes.

5. Protection from Storms & Harsh Weather

If heavy rain or storms are expected, cover the blooms with cloth or plastic to prevent damage.
Strong winds can break branches, so light pruning beforehand can strengthen the tree.

Following these practices will help improve both the quantity and quality of the mango harvest.
