Citizens queue up in their various banks to change their old notes to new ones...
Since the Central Bank of Nigeria's announcement on this New monetary policy, federal lawmakers have been kicking against It, describing It as a hasty decision.
Speaking With Enomfon Edet who is one of the kinsmen of anua offot community, he described the change in Nigerian currency notes as an action that is uncalled for.
"I really don't see the need of changing the naira notes to a new one, I don't believe that will help in making Naira have much value in the economy. I am very certain that this is all political. I am not 80% of my people have seen the New Notes yet. I went to the bank a few days to change some old Naira notes for the newly released ones, and I ended up spending 3 good hours at the end of it, I didn't still get it because the bank was still paying the old Notes".- Enomfon Edet
The central bank of Nigeria(CBN) is presently having increased pressure from Relevant stakeholders to extend the dateline for phasing out old N1,000, N500, and N200 notes which is 31st January 2023. Citizens complained that the deadline is not possible because the new Naira notes are not in circulation.
Speaking to Mr. Usoro Etuk a resident/ Indigene of the Ikot obio community, Uyo, he calls the redesigned of the Naira notes as a worse means to suffer the poor.
” This is a worse means to suffer the poor masses, It is absolutely wickedness to suffer the Poor like this. It is an outright violation of what is expected. The government is encouraging all citizens to go to the bank and change the old notes and when you get there, they brought a machine to change the notes, unfortunately, when you go with N400,000 they would only give you N10,000 of the new notes, and leave you with N390,000 of old notes. How do they expect us to finish up the other part that is not a new note? This is where I am having issues with this policy,” he said.”- Usoro Etuk.
Meanwhile, all banks in Nigeria have issued their memo encouraging their customers to come to the bank this (28th and 29th January 2023) weekend to change their old Naira notes.
Speaking to a business man Mr.Hanson Umoh, described the insufficient distribution of the new note as a curse to Nigerians.
"Some parts in Uyo don't even collect the old note anymore even when we have not reached the dateline yet. you can't even barb your hair anymore with the old notes, still, the new notes are not available because Politicians are packing them at their homes for election bribery/corruption. Even if you give someone a new note to give you change he will still give you old notes as change because the New notes are limited. This is a curse to Nigerians. People are really crying from hunger because their own money has turned useless in their hands. And the Politicians don't care".
Most of our mothers who sell foodstuffs at the market don't have active bank accounts to collect transfers, how will these ones survive? This is a wrong decision, please help us pass all these messages to the government!"
First Bank Nigeria has also issued a Memo to help their customers beat the deadline to deposit old Naira notes. Despite all these evidence , most Nigerians are seriously complaining that they can't stress themselves on this matter. Village heads in various communities have arrangements for public announcement in other to alert all their citizens to take action by changing their all notes so as not to become a waste after 31st January,2023.

Sometimes it is difficult to make the necessary changes as soon as possible . How about members who will not gave the time to visit their respective banks to make these changes before the deadline .
I hope all citizens do their best in other to exchange those notes.
