Many months ago when I joined the platform, there used to be a fascinating publication called "my town in ten pics" and in this publication, one key feature was the location of a particulate picture that is featured. Some of the tools used were the geo-located tools like the Google plus codes or what3words, unfortunately, many folks don't know how to use these tools.

Through this Pre-contest contest by @pennsif, I will take a few moments to share tips or tutorials perse on how to make use of this online tool.

So this time, I want to teach a user I will call @xyz who is also warming up for The Big 80 activities that is coming up soon.

what3words?

What3words is a geo-location tool that is used basically to point to a very particular location electronically using some unique combination of 3 different permanent words for every 3 square meters on the planet earth.

Executing this means of identification makes it easy to locate any geographic location and also allows anyone to share their current or past location link for easier tracing or identification.

This tool was generated back then in London, England a long time ago..., interestingly many countries seem to adopt this format of location identification.

To make your post more quality, especially when it has to do with photos, events..etc, it is advisable to add the location..perhaps using what3word.

How can this be used?

Before I talk about how it is used, I will advise you to install it on your android device, though you can also use the web.

Should you seek for assistance on where to get the tool, please consider these links below:

In other words, you can easily install them on your decice.Don't be confused, all the listed links point out to one point, but for the sake of this tutorial I will mention some steps to use it with a simple illustration.

For example i visited LG electronics show room in my city two months and I feel like letting folks know about that place in my publication, all i have to do is to :

Step 1

Type https://what3words.com on my browser and wait for it to open.

Step 2

I Clicked on the search box by the top left to find my what3words address by inputting the name LG Show room Uyo. In this case, you can do the same on your own depending on the location you want to search for. For a good experience, I will recommend putting your google location ON on your device.

Step 3

I clicked on the accurate address suggested on the listed, and what I find out will surprise you, check it below.

Step 4

Now, I need to attach this location to the picture I shared earlier on about the LG SHOW ROOM I visited, at this point I quickly applied the point 4 of the achievement task by @cryptokannon. Point 4 is "Link". And it focuses on how to attach a link to our content.

Links
Adding links in our posts is very useful and we often need to do it numerous times.
When we add a steemit username, along with its @, the name becomes clickable (leading to the steemit blog page) i.e. @katerinaramm
When we add a link, it is automatically recognized and is clickable i.e. https://steemit.com/@katerinaramm > > https://steemit.com/@katerinaramm
We can hide a link in a word or phrase, using the below syntax

this will be an inline link https://steemit.com/@katerinaramm transforms to >>
This will be an inline link

So, in this case, I want to hide the what3word address of this LG SHOWROOM location, whereas, I want the LG SHOWROOM name to display under the picture, such that once you click on that name, it will take you to that location on what3word. Check it below...

LG SHOW ROOM, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo

Let's look at few other examples:

A
Champion Breweries, Uyo
B
Water Fountain, Uyo

Me: Hey mate, are you okay with the explanation?

Xyz: I am good with it man, thanks.

Me: Alright, then I have a little assignment for you, and here is it: click this link I will like you to participate, I will sure want to read how you explain yours.

Maybe you could invite @eliany, @ozenozge , @petface to share their view of what3words.

Xyz: Alright, let's do this !
