Turquoise colored ice layer in the northern part of Lake Baikal, Siberia

Due to the immense pressure exerted during glacier rupture, the formed glacier ice is very dense, with almost no bubbles in the ice, resulting in a natural water blue ice landscape.

The beloved photography location of Russian landscape photographer Alex Trofimov is Lake Baikal in the southern Siberian region of Russia. Baikal Lake is one of the largest and oldest freshwater lakes in the world, with one-fifth of the world's freshwater. This natural phenomenon occurs every year in Lake Baikal, where large chunks of broken ice are crystal clear and exhibit the color of turquoise.
