My Steemit account and Profile Optimisation

It’s better to evolve with the world, or you’ll be left behind.

Hello everyone. Hope we're all doing great. It's just two days until the year is over, and I thought of sharing something special with you.

A new look of my profile

A couple of days back, I decided to optimise my profile here. I have been on Steemit for close to two years now, and I thought it was time to properly introduce myself without you asking.

If there’s one thing I learned about social media, or, one's online presence generally this year, it is profile optimisation. This is one thing that keeps ringing in my head anytime I attend an online event, or any physical conference that has something to do with social media and building on these platforms.

Since Steemit is also one of these social media platforms, I decided to implement that learning here as well. In short, for the fact that I have a presence online, I have to package it well for others to see.

What’s profile optimisation?

Simply put, profile optimisation is updating your profile with keywords that make you seen easily. For example, optimising your profile means putting what you do in words that make people find you once they search for those words or positions with ease.

This must be done regularly as things keep evolving on a daily basis.

Yesterday, I woke up to see I couldn’t use my WhatsApp unless I updated the app. This is one app that I update almost every month because of its new features. I noticed the channels were outlined vertically rather than horizontally as before. Plus, there's room for to to create your groups as I'd want to. Without this, I’ll be using an outdated version, that’s if I have the access. If not, I’ll be left out.

Profile optimisation on Steemit

Name: Here, your username is different from the name you want to be known as. You have the liberty to input your real name, or choose a name you'd want to be recognized by. For me, I chose to maintain the name @yhudy.

Bio: Your bio is like a sneek peak of what you do, and probably your interests. We get to know you by your hobbies, and what you are already. For me, it's mainly what I enjoy doing for now.

Photo: Most people use headshots here. It's like a picture that captures from your head to your shoulder. Most professional headshots are clear, simple, and professional.

Link: On Steemit, there's where one can probably insert a link to their website or any other site that relates to them. One should be careful about the link provided there.

Location: This is to tell your state, country or region. I chose to put my county and part of the continent I reside in. You can choose what you want for yourself as much you'd want to.

REASONS

Competition: This shows how competition takes place in the market place when features are updated and taken advantage of.

Visibility: Profile optimisation is one of those things that keeps us visible to our potential clients or audience.

Clarity: It makes people know what you do, who you do it for, and how you do it. With this, you invite only who you want, and not an unwanted crowd.

Branding and Networking: Profile optimisation is like a digital handshake that tells people the kind of services you offer and for whom, even before you open your mouth to say it.

Let’s take for instance, we never get to meet with most people from across the world, but due to this digitised age, we can work for anyone from anywhere. This is because they go through our profiles to see if we’re good fit for the job or referrals.

To wrap this up now, people should be able to trust you through your profile. If there’s where you need to tell us where you’re located at, please put it down. A clear and moderate picture is enough, one you’re comfortable with, your headline (where you tell us what you do, the people you do it for, and how) should communicate briefly and boldy about you.

With this, what do you think about your profile optimisation on Steemit? Would you leave it the way it is, or optimise it soon?
