Shang Chi is a new hero from Marvel Studios which had its debut in theaters during the past September despite the pandemic conext. This is a film that no one knew whether to expect too much or nothing at all since it´s focused on martial arts, Marvel called his own film an "Experiment" which caused even more uncertainty and the outlook seemed to turn very dark for this new hero, however, against all odds the critics ended up hailing the film with positive comments and even had a great reception in theaters despite the pandemic.
The story focuses on ten ancient and legendary rings that give their wearer great power to the point of making him invincible. These rings are in the hands of the father of our protagonist Shang chi, who escaped from his home many years ago to live a calm and more peaceful life with his friend Katy, they have a car parking job which they are both happy except for their families who want them to get a better job, however, his life changes completely again when Shang Chi leaves in search of his sister thinking that she is in danger, he may have to face again his father who has only been obsessed with becoming more powerful since his wife died.
This film being dependent on martial arts, it manages to recreate splendid fight scenes with careful and detailed choreography, something that is also very reinforced with its coom soundtrack, it´s without a doubt a film with good special effects. I can say with property after watching it that it is a film with a lot of fantasy which we will see extraordinary beings. If you want to watch it, it´s recommendable to go to theaters with caution, or you can watch it through Disney+ if you don´t want to take any risk.
On a personal level, I find this movie too average for its own good. It´s been years since Marvel said that their next films would change its tone a little bit and the truth is that I don´t notice any difference, I don´t want to sound critical but in the end Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is more of the same. I don´t consider it to be a bad movie by any means, however, it seems to me that the formula they use for their films is wearing out quite a bit. I would dare to say that this movie is an excuse for Disney to enter the in the Chinese market, which they failed with the live action of Mulan.
