Neram (2013) - it's all about time

Neram is a Malayalam movie made in Tamil language. Just like most of the Malayalam movies you will never get bored of watching this. Here Nivin Pauly and Nazria Nazim performs the two lead characters with Bobby Simha and Ramesh Thilak whom I personally prefer. So, as always, Alphonse Puthren (later the director of ‘’premam”) brings out a few spots of life in one of a cross section of Indian life in front of the audience.

This movie belongs to the black comedy thriller genre and was created in 2013.This film was produced by spending nearly two crore INR and it was able to keep a box office record by earning nearly 20 crore INR.

Arungeorge K. David, Bobby Simha, and Sukumar Thekkepatt in Neram

The film clearly shows that Alphonse has done a previous study on cinema. At the beginning of the film there is a quote from Quentin Tarantino and it seems that the features of Tarantino’s have been indianized. But for whatever reason, the director managed to finish the movie without shedding a single drop of blood. Although the script often reminds the pulp fiction of Quentin Tarantino it finally synchronizes with the typical Indian cinema. The color combination of the film reminds the color combination of the movie “good bad ugly”’.

Bobby Simha do a remarkable acting in the movie and it even exceeding the main role of Nivin Pauly.
The movie “Neram” conveys an idea about time without a huge philosophical exercise. There’s two parts of time as good and bad. Because of this film the two concepts of inevitability and coincidence in philosophy came into my mind. Neram can be describe as an appreciative Malayalam movie.
