Enslaved | ORIGINAL POEM

My heartache is like an insatiable fire ablaze
A warning not to stoke that fire again to survive Hades
Stayed locked up in its frozen prison
Encasing my heart as cage keeps a passerine
Now I must recoil to protect shattered fragments that remain
Love has gone, faster than I could ever imagine

The sun won't shine, hummingbirds sang a melody
Heartache is like the music of a great symphony
At times quiet, other times would rise to a spurt
One who can hear the playful calling of my own spirit
All memories connected to the lost one will become bitter-sweet
My blood had become tar struggled to keep a steady beat

When the words would not come, the tears did
Something felt so wrong, so invalid
The pain would hit me out of nowhere, doubling me over
My insides are too damp with uncried tear
The sun still shone in the sky, but not for me
The birds sang in bursts of melody, but not for me

As I walk, it is with a cloak of contentment, not feeling sorry
No graveside I can mourn by, there isn't even a coffin to bury
What beats in my chest before is merely a mass of angry muscle
A plethora of shattered bones, burning flesh, and a cracked skull
All sorrows and heartaches simply disappear
I am free! no longer a puppet, I am now a master!
