African cherry is a type of fruit in my area it's popularly known as Star Apple

It is one of the most tasteful tropical fruits in Africa.
In science, it belongs to a family called Sapotaceae. And a name Chrysophyllum albidum.
In my local language, it is called udara in Akwa Ibom state.
It is abundant in low land tropical forest zones. It can be found in the southwestern and south-eastern parts of Nigeria.
The fruit is also special and when it is fully ripe it falls to the ground on its own.
But if the is needed to preserve it for a longer period, it can be harvested before it is fully ripe.
Star apple or African cherry is cherished and valued for its milky juice and reddish inner.
The reddish inner flesh is also edible, as it covers the fruits inside of it.
To enjoy this fruit; simply clean this fruit, apply a little pressure on it with one or both of your hands and then lick up the milky juice until it is more succulent.
Then you can further progress to the opening of the fruitfully to access the reddish flesh and the seeds inside of it.
The flesh is chewable and can also be eaten as snacks.
African cherry is not only valuable for its edible qualities but also its health and nutritional benefits.
This fruit is also a rich source of vitamin A, C. It also provides the body with the calcium it strengthens the bones and teeth.
It prevents scurvy (a disease caused by a lack of vitamin C). It serves as an anti-oxidant booster and it has been discovered to in weight loss.
In conclusion, African cherry is a good of iron and it may be used in treating hypertension and intestinal problems.
The seed is not left out as it contains calories which is beneficial to the body. It is used in the treatment of diarrhea, reduces fever, and cures sore throat and constipation.
