Bombshell was riveting, powerful, and scalding. As a teenager, the most shocking insight came when other women stepped to help and defend Roger Ailes from these allegations. It just goes to show the power that men hold in these news networks and how well they can cover sexual harassment up. They have whole systems built up: his assistant, who knowingly sending women to be sexually harassed, his connections with top-notch lawyers, and the threats that he can give to shut people up.
Additionally, Bombshell shows the complexity of victim-perpetrator relationships, where a victim of sexual harassment could still rely on the perpetrator for actually insightful feedback on how to improve, guidance with regards to improving or becoming more skilled, etc. Bombshell reveals there are many reasons for women to stay quiet about sexual harassment because they don't know when it has passed a line. It is just my mentor playing with me or is this something I should speak up about? Not only is your relationship with your mentor going to get damaged if you speak up, but your whole career is on the line. This movie does a good job in not oversimplifying this issue and tackles a lot of issues.
