Written by joe abercrombie, First law trilogy ,without a doubt, is one of the best written grimdark fantasy out there.
It is gritty, raw and humorious. It has one of the best well developed morally grey characters. Characters with one of the best arc, who go through the most profound change. Characters who are the bad guys but you will still find yourself rooting for them because of how human they are, you will understand their inner conflict, their morals and why do they do what they do.
Also Abercrombie's writing is simply one of the most truthful and real. It is not the flowery writing, but its raw and speaks to you. The on point prose. The world building and magic system in this series is well realised one.
If you love game of thrones, chances are you will love this even more because I myself have read bith and would choose this over GOT.
Simply the most excellent character work, world building, magic system and theme.
