La Noria is a kind of horror short film directed by Carlos Baena and produced through international collaborations with artists from all over the world, who create this fully animated piece in beautiful 3D. This piece of art is beautiful even though monsters of the chilling design appear on it. Also, no matter how much it looks like horror, the short film seems more like a drama.

A drama about grief over the loss of a loved one and having to live with the memories of the past; while sadness and depression turn into monsters in your head lurk in every corner of the home.

A great job has been done softly adding some objects with meaning, like the scene of that piece of the Ferris wheel that is broken, and it does not quite fit into the construction which flies off to perch to fall under the bed. I think it represents how the boy is devastated by the loss of his father, hiding from reality.

However, it's when he accepts his problems and reconcile with them, he is going to be able to heal wounds even if they are still there. This hopeful attitude makes us understand we can carry on with our lives hugging beautiful memories of the past.

The design of the monsters seems amazing to me. The artists have achieved a balance where at first they can create a certain repulsion. They are not pretty at all as you can see. However, because of how expressive they are, they can change your feelings from fear to real pity in the few minutes that the short film lasts.

In short, La Noria is a small masterpiece that has won dozens of awards, including Best Short at the prestigious Short Shorts Asia in Tokyo and a Webby Award for Best Animation in the General Video Category, so don't wait any longer and hit play. You will see those minutes you spent watching this short film is going to be worthy. Enjoy it.
