I often chat with one of my commando friends and ask him what are the similarities or differences between their covert operations and the military commando operations shown in the movie? What is the objection of the intelligence to make a movie on a real military operation?

Category: Action, Thriller
IMDB rating: 6.3
Awards: Received many international awards.
See why: In 1980, the Iranian embassy in London was attacked by terrorists and 24 people were taken hostage. The movie is about the rescue of hostages by the Special Air Service (SAS) Mission. Another name for this movie is Who Dares Wins. Military intelligence had a lot of objections to making a movie about this real operation.

- Behind Enemy Lines (2001)

Awards: Winner of ALMA Awards 2002.
See why: Imagine that you, a pilot and a war-torn country's no-fly zone, have your plane shot down by enemies and you have to hide in cold, injured territory until help arrives. NATO's 1st commando operation in the no-fly zone of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The US Air Force Pilot Scott O Grady's plane was shot down by Serbian forces. He was later rescued before being caught. Interestingly, Scott O Grady sued the movie's director over why so much sensitive information was shown in the movie.

See why: In 1993, the US Army launched a commando operation to capture Mohamed Farah Idid, a political leader and military commander in Mogadishu, Somalia. Aidid's army shot down a US Black Hawk Helicopter. The battle of 180 US Elite Soldiers and many Somalis began. Mark Bowden also wrote a book in 1999 based on this incident. The warlords had objections and will continue to do so to make the world leaders sneer at other countries. Thanks to the director for his impartial presentation.

See why: In November 1984, a five-day operation was carried out in the Vietnam War, the first large-scale helicopter attack and the use of B-52 Strategic Bombers. Mel Gibson's remarkable performance has made the movie based on this true story extraordinary. This is a favorite movie of everyone in the defense including US Army General Hal Moore.

Why watch: A movie based on the last 10 days of Adlof Hitler's life in the bunker of Berlin at the end of World War II. This is a very favorite movie of Germans.
