Hi there my fellow Stemians and friends of the Colombian-Original community. I'm proud and happy to contribute another post to this community again. In today's blog post I'll be sharing on how Steemit as a platform has made blogging and the work of bloggers easier.
INTRODUCTION
Steemit is a decentralized social media platform that is built on a Blockchain technology. This concept of Blockchain makes Steemit completely different from other Social media platforms like Facebook or even blogging websites. The Blockchain has its own cryptocurrency called Steem. Steemit was designed to be a community platform that rewards content creators and content curators with their cryptocurrency, Steem. The platform and community has been designed to make it a perfect tool for bloggers in particular.
Bloggers write posts about their lives, topics of interest and solutions to problems and they usually do the writing on a website of their own or on a social media platform. There are so many things that bloggers will need to go through to be success in writing blogs on their website which I think Steemit has become a solution to or has eased them of some burdens. I'll share some of the values of Steemit to bloggers.
REWARDS
It requires a lot of effort, thinking, researching and skill to write good blogs. Bloggers spend their time preparing quality blog posts for readers to enjoy. This would mean that they would have to sacrifice time that could be used to do any other productive work in order to write these blog posts. This is why there is great need for bloggers to be supported financially. Steemit as a platform has a reward system. When a content creator creates and posts content, users that read the content can upvote the content. By upvoting a content on Steemit, rewards are given to the content creator and the content curator. The amount of rewards depends on the voting power or Steem power of the one voting or curating. After a 7 day period from the time of posting the content, both the content creator and curators can claim cryptocurrency rewards into their Steemit wallet. Steem tokens can be traded for actual cash or other forms of cryptocurrencies. This is a form of incentive for bloggers to support themselves and to keep writing more quality blog posts. I believe that if a blogger dedicates his time to contributing effectively on Steemit, the blogger can earn a decent income. Steemit has great earning potential for everyone.
AUDIENCE
One very huge benefit of Steemit to bloggers is the free audience that bloggers can share their content to on Steemit. I say free because bloggers usually have to pay to promote their blog sites. They have to share their links and ask people to read their blog posts. That is truly a lot of work even after working hard to create that quality content. On Steemit, there are lot of communities with active users that are sharing and communicating with each other. All a blogger has to do is to create quality and relevant posts and share them with the community. A blogger should however be aware of the rules of the community. Some communities are dedicated to specific topics and bloggers should post about those topics. Some communities are open for any kind of relevant content or topic as well.
NO ADS
One of the best features of Steemit in my opinion is that it is free of ads or advertisements. When you go to most blog pages, you will encounter a lot of ads. The ads shown on these blog sites are ways by which the blogger supports himself or herself financially. They register on advertisements companies like Google Adsense and show the company ads on their blog pages. On Steemit, there are no ads and yet bloggers still earn from the platform. This is absolutely the coolest platform for bloggers indeed.
FREE SPEECH
Steemit is decentralized and uncensored and therefore there's no single authority or organization checking and censoring people's statement on the platform. However, content creators must be respectful and say the truth. On platforms like Facebook, a government or political party can influence the platform and decide which information show be on the platform and which information should be taken out. This means that if a blogger writes the truth and it goes against a government agency, they can influence the platform to take the information out. Steemit is decentralized and therefore this scenario cannot play out. The registered user or content creator has full control and ownership of his or her content.
CONCLUSION
I hope this blog post was educative and entertaining. The purpose of this post was for people to understand the true value of the Steemit platform to content creators and bloggers. Steemit has truly made a difference in the social media world and continues to push into the future. I prefer decentralized blockchain based social platforms to traditional platforms like Facebook and Instagram because of all the above mentioned advantages. Thanks so much for reading this blog post. I would definitely love to hear your opinions on this topic of decentralized social media platforms. I'll see you in my next blog post. Have a great day.
