A Key for Hive to Thrive

In my humble opinion, a high quality system of governance will be a big key in helping Hive to Thrive.

Here's hoping Hive adopts a Matrix-8 Platform of governance to effectively and equitably organise our new population so we can lead the way in the new world we are creating and help Hive to Thrive

Here are some recent comments i made regarding Matrix-8 if you would like to learn more:

The way I see it, is that large groups have great difficulty in coming to concensus, unless very well organised. The Matrix-8 Platform https://steempeak.com/c/hive-153630/
is the only system I know of and have examined well which fits the bill to help us organise very well and achieve concentrated actionable accords voted upon by the whole community. Small group of eight people (8-PAC's - 8 people in active communication) meet online, anonymously, discuss, deliberate and reach a consensus for an actionable accord. They then elect a delegate to speak for them in an 8-PAC including seven other elected delegates from seven other 8-PAC's, who do the same, thus concentrating an actionable accord.

There can be unlimited members. It takes eleven levels to include the entire human population of planet earth.

With Matrix-8 in place as a system of governance for #Hive, we will be not only leaders in the Blockchain world, but will help lead humanity back to the "garden of Eden" where we will once more have peace and abundance for all.

Well, not being a coder/developer (are they the same thing?) i'm not excatly sure. Many years ago, self taught, i created an order processing system using Lotus Approach for my then business, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

i think a DApp built on Hive might be the best way to go.

To get some understanding of what would be needed, i guess you would need to read some of the posts about Matrix-8, then come back to me or @matrix-8 with questions.

I see the Matrix-8 Master Platform (which will be owned by no-one) ultimately being used by virtually the whole population of the planet (or at least those who have access to a smartphone or computer). Before that however some smaller organisations would choose to adopt a subway Matrix-8 platform for their own governance. I am trying to get Hive, Ecoin (over 1.5 million users - target 1 billion by the end of this year), and Initiative Q (well over 5 million users) plus others interested at the moment.

I think these three posts would be the best starting points:

I hope you will invest the time to begin to understand the huge potential of Matrix-8, and help us to get some idea of time and cost involved to create such a system.

Here is a quick sketch i just made which may help to understand the inter connectivity in a Matrix-8 Platform. This partially shows just three levels which can include 8 x 8 x 8 = 512 people.
8PAC sketch.jpg

Six levels can include up to 262,144 people so for the time being would be enough for #Hive.

Communication is a two way street. No delegate is guaranteed any length of term. For example, if during a meeting with seven other delegates on level six, if your delegate proposes a vote to change how witnesses are voted in, and this has not been agreed upon by you in your bottom level 8-PAC, your 8-PAC (while monitoring the meeting by live audio) can immediately vote in a new delegate and immediately replace the previous elected delegate (during the level six meeting) who is speaking wrongly for you.

There are no 5 year terms in Matrix-8. You only get to hold a position of responsibility if you are always in integrity!

Matrix-8 is a real time Democrity.

Let's take an example of how Matrix-8 could be used.
Here is a (slightly amended) draft proposal i put together last night while listening to a Hive Live broadcast on Discord with @edicted.

Let's take one aspect of that, the Reputation Score.

With Matrix-8 Governance in place, an announcement could be made for everyone to meet in their respective 8-PAC's to discuss, deliberate and reach an accord for a new reputation system. It could be possible within 18 hours (possibly as little as 4 hours) for the entire Hive membership to come to a concentrated accord to implement a new reputation system. Of course it would then need to be coded. And perhaps i am oversimplifying, but i don't think so. We will obviously need to test it.

What do you think?

ps. Coders/Developers also required to create Matrix-8 on Hive.
Graphic Artist also required to make a way better representation than my sketch :-). Inquire within.

I think it sounds brilliant actually..

Me too, but I cannot take the credit. That goes to John Huckel @matrix-8 who designed it.

Although a not dissimilar idea came to me about ten years ago, I was unable to explain and move it forward. I was however delighted when I found Matrix-8 about two months ago. I then partnered up with John to help move it forward.

Thanks for your comment.

The only way the holographic model can be applied to a blockchain project would be from the ground up. The idea of completely restructuring the governance model of an already-existing system, that has been working out the bugs of its current model for 4 years, is a non-starter.

Really? You think so? Am i wasting my time trying to persuade Hive to adopt this then?

Surely it could be used as a minimum to gather consensus from the members to help get make decisions which reflect the wishes of the users?

Ya, I don't see it ever happening to the chain itself, since that means rewriting all the code and redesigning the whole thing -> Hence it would have to be a whole new project from the start.

In terms of using similar organizational structures within the community, sure. We already have a similar (but much looser and less systematic) version of this with all the many communities, and each generally having someone(s) who go to town halls to represent them and such.

To be clear (I think we've talked about it before too), I love the Holomat/Matrix-8 structure, just find it important to focus our activism in the places where it can lead to results :-)

even getting those to meet up at the same time might be hard. I like the idea but would see it better through conversation.

Yeah, that's why i said it could take 18 hours, to allow for time differences.

I would be happy to have a voice chat with you, perhaps with John Huckel too. I don't do well on voice calls with large groups, but 3 would be fine. Let me know
