Hola my Friday Foodie Friends! Hope you’ve had a great week!

The Birds are lovin' the outdoors this week! Living in a tropical climate means everything grows year round. Flowers and plants never stop growing and as a result they need to be replaced. In fact many plants we used to have as indoor plants in the Midwest are actually outdoor landscaping plants here. Pretty crazy I know. So...after a tasty morning smoothie we were off to visit...

Bromeliad Paradise!

Yes! My friend @dswigle would love this place! She celebrates @marketfriday each week and this would be right up her alley. Bromeliad Paradise was amazing with acres and acres of bromeliads to behold. How do you choose????

I loved chatting with the owner…

His passion for bromeliads began when he was 17 years old (he’s in his 60’s now). He loves to experiment with the plants, cross-pollinating to hybridize new plants. What we thought would be a quick stop lasted all morning! What a fun shopping trip, we learned so much and we will certainly go back.

After an afternoon of planting…

we were starved! After a quick hand wash, I flew to the kitchen. As you know today is @foodfightfriday! I certainly don’t want to miss the big #fff party! Luckily I have a special bowl of soup I’ve been planning to prepare for Mr. Bird so today will be perfect. Italian turkey meatballs were ready to go so the soup wouldn’t take too long.

Chicken broth on the stove…check!

and lots of fresh spinach on hand.

Toss the meatballs…

and spinach into the boiling soup, just enough time for a quick Bird bath!

Last but not least…

I whisked parmesan cheese and egg together. While doing the Friday Bird dance I drizzled the eggy-cheesey mixture into the bubbling meatball broth. The soup was ready by the time Mr. Bird showed up with a bowl and a smile!

Cheers my friends! Grab a spoon and enjoy!

Love the colors of the plants and that soup sounds and looks so tasty

Hi @birdsinparadise. I love turkey meatballs. Get them ready packaged from the organic freezer secton. Great with so many dishes. And I love any type of soup. thanks for sharing.

I love the second to last photo. I am going to start using symmetry in my entries from now on.
:) The food looks delicious.

I’ve actually never heard of a bromeliad but they sure are gorgeous!! Of course your pictures of food are a formidable opponent. Nice to see you popping in @birdsinparadise. I miss all of our old cronies and you’re a welcome site this morning. Hope you’re enjoying getting ready for the Super Bowl. I’m sure your kitchen will be a spread to reckon with 😉

Bromeliads do very well here in our subtropical climate as well, those are really gorgeous specimens my friend!
BUT, that soup sounds absolutely delicious, love how you whisked the egg and cheese at the end, really yum!
