Continuing with Day Three of @whatsup's "Milk Challenge;" more about that at the bottom of this post.
I have to confess that I miss having days of just doing nothing.
There's an irony within that longing: Part of the reason I chose the self-employment route many years ago was precisely so I would be able to occasionally have slack days... and it is because I am self-employed that I now can almost never afford to take slack days.
I could watch flowers grow
Maybe I am just inherently lazy, but I have always enjoyed doing nothing. A lot of people don't really believe me, when I say that... but when I have the opportunity — like when I get an actual vacation — I really do enjoy not doing anything.
I don't need to go to museums.
I don't need to do a bunch of visiting to historic sites.
I don't need to be entertained.
I don't need to go to fairs and festivals.
I don't need to search out lost relatives in far corners of the world.
Wild roses
I am quite content to just sit with a book for hours/days on end... occasionally dozing of, and occasionally taking a break from reading by simply watching the grass grow for a couple of hours.
As I write these world, I realize that (a) I am definitely part of the "slow living" movement, and (b) it feels like life has become to hectic and fast paced that shutting my brain completely off just feels like a very attractive proposition.
And so, when I tell someone that I am looking to take a "day off," I don't mean that I need to run errands, I mean that I want to get my brainwaves as close to flatlining as possible!
Thanks for reading!
Watch sunsets!
Milk and Taters!
The "Milk Challenge" is the brainchild of @whatsup and you can go read the original post here.
Short version: It's about posting + engagement. One post a day (at least) and 10 comments a day (at least) for seven consecutive days (at least).
Use the tags #milkandtaters or #milkandtators.
Try to keep the general tone light and about something the general social media-consuming public might be interested in.

Oh my goodness, yes! Above all I enjoy just being and not answering life's many demands. Slow down, breathe and relax. Is it that I'm older now? Perhaps, but there's plenty going on in my own head to keep me occupied for days on end.

I think a lot of times we are taught that we are somehow "missing something" if we're not on the go all the time... but some while back I determined I don't really care whether or not I am "missing" anything!

Yes! Often we are truly missing time to regroup and live slower.

Thanks for participating, I'm hoping maybe we can pass this project around from week to week.

Looks like I'm already "bust" on day four, here! I just have too much going on with my eBay stuff on the weekends... and then it's suddenly ten minutes to midnight by the time I realize I need to put a post out there... So I'm not a very fine example!
But the idea of having a "wandering" challenge of some kind, where a different person "hosts" for a week is a pretty good one.

lol, well I failed at it too. So, it's more of a goal.
