Federal government plans to release transatlantic cruise ships and exploitation of artificial shipwrecks in Fernando de Noronha. Who released the information was the president of Embratur and Flávio Bolsonaro, the investigated son of the president.
The fixation with Noronha does not come from today. In July last year, anti-environmental minister Salles had already said that sardine fishing and night flights would be released. Bolsonaro had also questioned the limitation of visitors to the archipelago. Since 1988, Fernando de Noronha has been a National Marine Park for the protection of species that only exist there and others that are threatened with extinction.
Its waters, for example, guarantee the reproduction and feeding of tuna, sharks, turtles and marine mammals. There we also find the highest concentration of tropical sea birds. Declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO, the archipelago is one of the most important marine parks in the world.
