Simply the Best – (PowerHouseCreatives Contest) – The Best Thing I’ve Bought

Simply the Best

I’m not much of a materialist. I like nice, well-made things if we’re talking about physical things, but once I have the things, I’m not even looking at anything beyond that. I’m not frugal and I’m not greedy. If I have what I need, I’m comfortable.

This week’s contest is a pretty tough one, as I’ve had a really hard time trying to think what I’ve bought over my lifetime that qualifies as the best thing I’ve purchased.

I believe the reason for this is that when I buy something, even if it’s something I really want, once I have it, it just becomes one of the things that I’ve bought that serves a purpose. Sometimes I’ve purchased what I felt was the right thing at first, only to end up disappointed when it turned out to be a bad choice.

I thought about the vehicles I’ve owned, as what guy doesn’t cherish at least one vehicle they’ve had or currently have?

I’ve had a few that I loved to drive, but none were the “best” thing I’ve ever purchased. Once cars were out of the running, I thought about that damned fastest production motorcycle that I’d had, with which I’d give myself a case of the heebie jeebies after I’d manage to get home without killing myself. It was definitely out, even though it was the best thing I’d bought at the time I bought it.

Then I thought about audio equipment I’ve bought. Nope; nothing there but what I have now, and though it’s great, it’s not that “thing.” TVs? Out. Clothes? Oh come on.

Now I’m beginning to think I’d have an easier time with this week’s contest subject matter, if I were a female of our species. When I pictured that in my mind, I got an image of dresses, shoes, sweaters, coats… well, just closets and closets of things in there from which to choose. Then I thought they might have it harder than we guys, considering how their attempt to choose ONE thing from the many available to them just might be impossible.

Then, I thought about things I’ve purchased that have served a purpose for me; something that works well and has improved my ability to experience something in some way, to learn something or to be enabled to do something I’d not been able to do.

I’ve decided that the best thing I’ve ever bought isn’t really an expensive thing. It’s quite useful however, in a number of ways. It helps me to understand music composition, something I’d learned a bit of some time ago and which had become pretty much lost over decades of inactivity.

The best thing I’ve ever bought is Guitar Pro 7. With it, I can compose music and print out the sheet music for it too. It’s an amazing program that I enjoy using a lot. Probably the reason I choose it as the “best” thing that I’ve ever purchased, is due to the joy it gives me, and boosted by the fact that it creates a “history” of my work both in stored files and on paper.

There is a con, though. That would be the fact that when I sit down for a session of composing, it could take a tow truck (or varied threats) to get me away from it; I get so absorbed. To me, it is, without a doubt, the best purchase I’ve made in my life.

Lovely entry @free-reign. Your Guitar-pro 7 sounds fantastic.

Very nice😊

At first I though you said the Guitar Hero Game and I was thinking....um okay millenial.
That guitar pro7 seems lile a great software to buy forba guitar player.

I have never heard of that program, and I don't have any music talents at all, but it sounds like a very nice piece of equipment, even printing the music after you are done composing!!

Highly rEsteemed!
