- “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
- Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
- For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
- When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 (NKJV)
• A lot of believers have given themselves to the natural side of life, they have unconsciously forgotten who they are on earth, and where they are going (1 Peter 2:9,11).
- Believers in Christ Jesus are sojourners, resident aliens, on earth—we are pilgrims on a journey to heavenly planet (1 John 2:17).
“Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.”
1 Peter 2:11 (NKJV) - We should not pay attention to the natural side of life to the detriment of our spiritual life—our relationship with God.
- We should not lose focus of where we are going, that is, heavenly kingdom (Philippians 3:12,13).
• Paul admonishes the Colossian Christians and every believer in Christ Jesus to seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1,2).
- They should set their minds on things above not on earthly things.
- Although we live in the material world, we need material things; however, in seeking material things we should not forget who we are, and we should not lose our focus, about where we are going—heaven.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
• If you do not lose focus of where you are going—when Christ who is our life appears, you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:4).
- “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
- Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
- AND EVERYONE WHO HAS THIS HOPE IN HIM PURIFIES HIMSELF, JUST AS HE IS PURE.”
1 John 3:1-3 (NKJV)
• You will not fail in Jesus’ name.
Peace!
