Hello All,

This is the story and history of Basilica of Bom Jesus.

I really like to make a post on this and share the information about this place and my experience.

At this place, I try to make at least one visit twice a year. It is about the place of GOA.

GOA is one my favorite place. I like to spend time on beach and GOA state is full of beaches. Every corner you will find the beach.

Goa is a state on the southwestern coast of India within the region known as the Konkan, and geographically separated from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats. It is surrounded by the Indian states of Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its western coast. It is India's smallest state by area and the fourth-smallest by population.
Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is its largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants and conquered it soon thereafter. Goa was a former state of the Portuguese Empire. The Portuguese overseas territory of Portuguese India existed for about 450 years until it was annexed by India in 1961. Its majority and official language is Konkani.
Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year for its white sand beaches, nightlife, places of worship and World Heritage-listed architecture.

Old Goa ia one of the place wherein you will find the place Basilica.

It is always feel good to visit this church. The complete name of this place and Church is Basilica of Bom Jesus.

Basilica of Bom Jesus

The construction of this church is very nice, look at the art of the structure. The insider view of this church is also speechless. There are lot of paintings inside the Church.

Insider View. This is made inside the Church.

The environment and surrounding of this Church is very silent. You'r entire day can spent in the church, each and every corner is history here.

This is one of the highly visited tourists place.

Now I will tell you the importance on this Church.

The inside on this church you will see the body of Francis Xavier , yes it is still inside in this church.

This is one of the oldest churches in Goa and in India. The floor is of marble inlaid with precious stones.
Construction work on the church began in 1594. The church was consecrated in May 1605 by the archbishop, Dom Fr. Aleixo de Menezes. This world heritage monument has emerged as a landmark in the history of Christianity. It contains the body of St. Francis Xavier, a very close friend of St. Ignatius Loyola with whom he founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits).
The body of Francis Xavier was first taken to Portuguese Malacca and two years later shipped back to Goa. It is said that the saint's body was as fresh as the day it was buried.[4] The remains of the saint still attract a huge number of tourists (Christian and non-Christian alike) from all over the world, especially during the public viewing of his body every ten years (last held in 2014). The saint is said to have miraculous powers of healing.

Look closely, you will see the body of Francis Xavier.

There is lot of more about this place but hard to describe in words. I am sure you will really like to visit such historical place.
