Lettuce is a plant that enjoys great popularity within the family of vegetables and although in some cases it may not be very appetizing, we can not ignore that it has excellent properties and when consumed, our body receives benefits that guarantee adequate nutritional well-being.
To get an idea of how long lettuce is part of our healthy foods we can highlight that, in the Middle Ages it was the most consumed food due to the food difficulty of that time. If we travel more to the past we will know that, in ancient times people had great affiliation for this vegetable since, the Greeks, Romans, Persians, Egyptians and summaries apart from using it to feed, also did it to treat some health problems that they presented after participating in a war or, the plagues that appeared at that time.

Currently, lettuce is considered one of the vegetables that have green leaves with more medicinal use since, when consumed, it does not provide excessive calories but it is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Specialists detail that, if we consume 100 grams of lettuce in a day, our body has the opportunity to achieve excellent levels of well-being.
Similarly, regular consumption of lettuce can help us keep our body well hydrated, we fight the problems of anxiety, insomnia and depression. For this we can consume it in infusion or as part of our food since, with lettuce we can prepare soup, cream, salad, green juice or rolls.
So that we can make the most of the nutrients of lettuce, it is advisable to consume it fresh because, when this vegetable already has 10 days of being extracted from its habitat, it begins to lose the level of properties it has therefore, if we consume a vegetable that is no longer so fresh, it is impossible for our organization to receive the right vitamins and minerals.
Lettuce also contains diuretic properties, a particularity that allows us to eliminate fluid retention in our body. In the same way, it helps with the care of the cardiovascular system since it has flavonoids, this being the necessary nutrient when reducing possible heart diseases.
By consuming lettuce interdaily, we have the opportunity to protect our gastric mucosa and at the same time, we can regulate the level of sugar in the blood thus avoiding suffering from diabetes and in case of being diabetic, this disease can be controlled. It should be noted that, if we want lettuce to be our treatment against diabetes, in order to meet the treatment requirements it must be consumed regularly.
To conclude, regular consumption of lettuce also helps with the proper functioning of the kidneys thus allowing the prevention of infections in the urinary system. In another aspect, if what we want is to follow a balanced diet to control weight, lettuce is also an excellent ally and to achieve this, we must consume it twice a day for the duration of the diet we are following.
