Mamnoon Hussain, the former president of Pakistan and a staunch supporter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), died in Karachi on Wednesday after a protracted illness, according to his family and party leaders. He was 80 years old.

Between September 2013 to September 2018, Hussain served as Pakistan's 12th President. He was succeeded by Arif Alvi, who had replaced Asif Ali Zardari.
