Entrance to Singra National Park

Singra National Park is the only dry forest conservation center in Bangladesh. It is a forest protected by the Bangladesh government. Singra Forest is located 15 km from Birganj Upazila of Dinajpur District, Rangpur Division, North Bengal, Bangladesh. This national park has all the qualities to attract tourists who like natural and beautiful environment. This naturally growing forest or national park is an attractive tourist spot for people who love to travel. The area of this huge garden is 855 acres (305.69 hectares). The most common plants in this garden are deciduous willow, jarul, shilkarai, shimul, teak, akashmani, amalki and various herbaceous plants and vines.

Tall Shrub

Once upon a time, this forest was a sanctuary for various species of wild animals, but due to the pressure of increasing population and the cutting of many trees from the forest, the animals were displaced. Rabbits, squirrels, foxes, badgers, and various species of snakes can still be seen in this forest. There are still various types of birds in this forest, the sounds of which soothe the minds of tourists.

The Nartanadi River inside Singra National Park, which dries up in winter and becomes a reservoir and regains its youth during the rainy season

The Nartanadi River flows through Singra National Park, which dries up in winter and becomes a stream of water. Therefore, this Nartanadi River regains its full youth during the rainy season and many fishermen earn their living by fishing from this river. A tribe of Bangladesh (Sawtal) lives inside this national park. These Sawtals are the fishermen of the Nartanadi River.

A clay house made of termites that shows great artistic qualities

There are various insects inside the Singra forest, but what will catch your eye is the long mounds made of clay made by termites. These clay mounds are made by insects for their habitat. There are many mounds that are now free of insects, but these mounds of clay have become very hard.

Bangladesh's only Vulture care center

This Singra National Park has become more known as the only Vulture care center in Bangladesh. Sick Vulture found in different parts of Bangladesh are rescued and brought here for primary treatment and kept under observation for 4-5 months before being released. Vulture Nature's sweeper Shukun cleans our surroundings by eating the dirt but the current number of Vulture has decreased. I appreciate this work of the forest department. Especially in winter, more sick Vulture are rescued.
