What crops are grown in your region?

First of all I am from Nigeria and there are many crops that are grown around here which includes cassava, yams, maize potatoes cocoa and many others. This crops are usually grown to either use them to feed their family or to sell them to earn some cash. Also some other crops that are grown here in Nigeria are rice and even beans are also grown too.

What was the average yield and market price of this crop?

If for instance a person take two tuber seedlings of yams and play them on his or her farm, to plant them, when there plant ,of there was average rainfall and sunshine also backed up with a fertile land there is a tendency that the two seedlings may turn into 4 or more bigger tubers. And also the market price currently for five tubers of yam in my area is around 7 thousand naira which is around 20 to 21 steem. But I don't see the price too high because the yams are big and have no rotten parts in it. So in my own way purchasing this yams is a good idea.

How much did it cost to cultivate and what was the total profit from this crop?

It does not cost too much to cultivate let's say you have a plot of land and you want to cultivate it you first turn the ground upside down. Also you have to buy some yam seedlings or if you have some it is also ok and the cost of planting is rising, maintenance is another this that will have some great effect on your crops . If you maintain your crops well by weeding or clearing away the grasses on your farmland and this will also cost you. But coming to the best part ,when those crops grow mature and reach time to harvest them out, if you are a person who have the intentions of selling the crops you will make more gain if your crops do well also. So in cultivating a farmland it may be very cost to cover the fees but the time for harvesting the smiles in your face may be too much because of how the crops may do well.

What do you prefer for the new farmers?

I think that the new farmers who are looking forward to succeed in farming should consider having a good piece of land that will help you to cultivate your crops very well. You should try and know if the land is fertile by checking the soil type also by asking people who plant nearer to the farm if the land was good how long it has been without it being at use. And also you should consider the type of crop to plant you should consider your different method to control weed or grasses. I think this few things are the ones that a new farmer should consider before jumping into farming.
